A personality in a person is the qualities that show their character, meaning how that person acts around others or how that person is to themselves. “Hartman claims that people who know their core motives understand their strengths and limitations and can use this knowledge to better relate with others at work, school, and home” (Hartman pg. 10). For example, a person can work well with others as a group during the job, while others are more productive working alone to get things done their way. It is very important for a person to understand another person's personality, because saying the wrong thing to a person with a certain personality can lead to a conflict that can be avoided.

Hartman sees personality colors as a way to describe people, and understand why people are the way they are and why they act a certain way (Hartman pg. 10). “Hartman developed the Hartman Personality Profile to help individuals identify their core motive and provide insight for them to work more efficiently with others” (Hartman pg.10). Employers are on the verge to seek employees that are well equipped to work with others as a team, and share the same personality traits. There are four main colors to describe a person using the Hartman’s personality profile: red, blue, yellow, or white. An individual who is classified as red is a very demanding person who wants to just get things done. A blue personality is a person who strives to do their best and tries to please others around them. Being a person with a yellow personality is very outgoing and adventurous , as well as, carefree. Lastly, being the color white means a person likes to keep the peace and stay far away from conflict.

After I took the Hartman’s personality profile survey, it gave me a conclusion that I am the color white.  The color white resembles a person who likes to keep the peace between themselves and others. A person who is considered the color white as their personality are quiet and enjoys life’s simplicity without stressing over the little things in life. I believe Hartman’s personality survey reflects myself because I am respectful, independent, and always look to please other people, as well as, myself. As a color white personality, I set my goals by trusting and believing in myself and I look for other possibilities that are given to me for guidance.

It is very important for others to understand the different personality traits because it will help that person talk to another without potentially upsetting them. Between the different personalities there are major do’s and don'ts, such as, if a friend has a red personality then a person needs to be direct with suggestions rather than giving just a little or too much information. Also, knowing the personalities of other people well help a person see if they are compatible and able to work well with that person. If a person has a red personality then they will not work well with maybe a white personality, because a red personality does not work well with others; they are ready to get things done and do not discuss or work well with others in a group. While the white personality wants feedback from others and work excellent in a group and seek for other possibilities.

As a final point, the Hartman’s personality survey is a great way to help understand what kind of personality a person has. Every person is different, but people also share similarities. Going back to working with others, those who work together as a group and communicate well share the trait of being responsible enough to share ideas. A person with a personality that likes to work alone will only want to get objectives done the way they want it and only the way they want it. Every person should know what kind of personality they have to help them understand themselves and others around them.
